Think Before You Throw Anti-littering Campaign
The City of Deltona and Vice Mayor Denizac have officially kicked off the City-wide anti-littering campaign with a "sign-raising" ceremony at City Hall. Beginning in September, the three Volusia County middle schools - Deltona, Galaxy and Heritage, will participate in four "Think Before You Throw" poster contests throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Each school will have its poster contest on a quarterly basis and those 10 best posters will be on display at businesses in Deltona. Additionally, those student artists will be recognized at a subsequent City Commission meeting.
A total of 10 "Think Before You Throw" signs will be located on different roadways across Deltona. Four signs are designated for high-ridership bus stops in the City, and the remaining five signs will be placed along those thorough-fares with a history of excessive roadside litter. Future phases of the campaign plan for additional signage throughout the City.
