What is the Community Emergency Response Team?
C.E.R.T. is an informative program that gives Deltona citizens and business owners an opportunity to help themselves and their neighbors during times of crises. Working with the highly trained personnel of the Deltona Fire Department, participants will learn how to prepare themselves, their families, and their community for natural and man-made disasters.

What does the course involve? Participants will receive twenty-one hours of instruction as well as 3 hours of exciting hands-on exercises. Classes are held on every Saturday for a four week period. During this class participants will learn basic first aid and emergency mitigation skills. There are no written tests in this course; however, participants will be evaluated during practical evolutions.

Upon completion of the C.E.R.T. course, participants receive a certificate from the Federal Emergency Managment Agency.

C.E.R.T. members maintain their skills by participating in monthly training and drills. In addition, members have the opportunity to work closely with fire department crews during Deltona's numerous civic functions.
