About Owner Occupied Home Repair Program

The City of Deltona has implemented a program to assist eligible homeowners with necessary code, health, and safety repairs, utilizing federal and state grants. The types of repairs covered by the program include failing septic systems, roof leaks, and HVAC (Heating and Cooling Air System).

  • You are a resident of the City of Deltona
  • You have clear title to your home
  • Your mortgage payment is current
  • You reside in your home year-round
  • Your property taxes are paid to date

Loan Terms

  • This is a second mortgage deferred payment, zero interest, forgivable loan for a term of up to 15 years. Applicants are only entitled to the least amount of possible award for which they’re qualified for.
  • The minimum affordability period is: 15 years assistance - $0 - $40,000
  • The maximum award is $40,000
  • You will be required to pay the loan back should you sell, rent, stop living in the house, or obtain additional liens on the property prior to the end of the 15 years.
  • Additional default scenarios will be provided to you prior to application approval.

Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Owner Occupied Repair Loan Grant

The City of Deltona has received notice of an award in the amount of $600,000 in SHIP funding. Beginning September 16, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022, the City will expand the current Owner Occupied Rehabilitation program to include grants for very low-income eligible applicants only.  Applications will be accepted only during the application period specified as each strategy is implemented. Please note, applications will only be accepted as long as budgeted funds for the strategy are available. The City of Deltona will expend SHIP funds for program years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 under the following Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) Strategy:

  • Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program (Grants for roof replacement for Very Low-Income applicants only).

The request for approval of this update to the funding strategy was presented to the City Commission, on August 16, 2021 at the regularly scheduled Commission Meeting.  Applications for this strategy will be available beginning September 16, 2021 from 9 am to noon  Grant staff will be available to review and assist applicants with the application process.
